In the roofing world there are three types of fiberglass shingles, but first let’s talk about what makes them a fiberglass shingle vs. asphalt shingle. With traditional asphalt shingles, there is a natural product on the back of the shingles; typically, wood or paper. On the other hand, fiberglass shingles are backed with a much more durable and water-resistant fiberglass. When choosing a shingle for your roof, think of this: would you rather have paper protecting your family’s home or would you rather have a fiberglass, water resistant shingle?
